Inspired by metal dust spread like paint on a welder’s hand, Aimee began drawing the beauty she found in the intricacies of a hand cracked and gritty from a hard day’s work. Born and raised in Long Beach, CA with a family history rooted in architecture, Aimee has always had an appreciation for design, but more recently has translated that into a fascination for how things are made. Late in 2019 Aimee started “Handmade: A Craftsman Drawing Series,” a collection of graphite and charcoal drawings that celebrates the working hands of craftsmen and women, the tools they use to mine their craft and their durable workwear. She sees the passion in the process, the value in the dirt, the beauty in the rust, and the heart in the hard work that brings something from dream to fruition.

In addition to Aimee’s figurative series, she has been exploring a duality in practice with three abstract bodies of work, The Moody Series, Blurred Visions series, The Heart Opener Series. This recent breakway from her signature style has ignited a newfound trust and celebration of the unknown.

Aimee is a Program Artist, Curator & Juror at ShockBoxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach, CA and a Member of Los Angeles Art Association.
